Side Guide System

GENERAL
The side guide system consists of two side guides, one marked right and
the other left, and two side buttons.

DRAWER OPENING
The minimum cabinet dimensions and clearance between drawers are shown
in the table below. The most critical dimension in installnig this system
is the width of the drawer opening (A). If the opening is too wide, the
drawer may rack and the lip of the side guide member will drag on the
drawer making it hard to open and close. If the opening is too narrow,
the side flange of the drawer will drag on the drawer guide making it
hard to open and close. Because of these two characteristics the side
guide opening must be correct. Dimension (B) is the minimum cabinet depth
(front to back) and dimension (C) is the minimum clearance between drawers
(height).

SIDE BUTTONS
Location of the side buttons is 4" down from the center of the side guide
and 3/8" back from the front end of the side guide. Side buttons are not
used with the M-3079 drawer. Fasten the side button to the case side using
1 1/4"x8 wood screws.

INSTALLING SIDE GUIDES
Lay out the locations for the mounting screws on the side case. Do not
use the mounting holes in the guides to locate the position of the guide
in the case. Fasten the side guide to the case side using #5 pan head
sheetmetal screws, driving the screws into the pre-marked locations. The
installed side guide must be straight and perpendicular to the front plane
of the case.

For recessed drawer fronts, the front edge of the side guide can be used
as the drawer stop. This is easily accomplished by setting back each side
guide by the thickness of the drawer front. For drawer fronts that overlap
the front of the cabinet, bring the side guides to the front edge of the
cabinet. This allows the drawer to have maximum extension in front of the
case before hitting the drawer stops.

To aid sliding, the bearing surfaces of the drawer and side guide may be
coated with silicone spray.
